BJP Files Complaint with Election Commission Over Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on PM Modi During Bihar Elections
Amid the intense campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The complaint alleges that Rahul Gandhi’s comments targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi violate the Model Code of Conduct.
BJP officials expressed strong objections to Rahul Gandhi’s speeches, describing them as objectionable personal attacks on the Prime Minister. The party has urged the Election Commission to take strict action to curb this behavior during the sensitive election period.
Rahul Gandhi has made several controversial remarks about PM Modi in his recent Bihar rallies. For instance, at a Muzaffarpur rally, he said, “If you tell PM Modi to dance for votes, he will dance. He only cares about your vote.” At another event in Nalanda, Gandhi accused PM Modi of being visible only during elections in Bihar and disappearing post-poll.
In a fiery speech in Nalanda, Rahul Gandhi further alleged that PM Modi stole votes and has been working to overturn Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Constitution. He claimed Modi had promised to abolish the Constitution after winning 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, and accused the BJP of winning elections through vote theft.
Gandhi also asserted that without vote-rigging, the India alliance would have already formed the government and emphasized the significance of the Constitution, describing it as the voice of India’s great leaders, which Modi allegedly seeks to dismantle.
The BJP complaint highlights these statements as attempts to malign the image of the Prime Minister and disturb the electoral process. The Election Commission’s response to the complaint is awaited as it assesses the need for appropriate measures to maintain fair campaigning and respect for democratic principles.
