A WhatsApp group linked to the Samajwadi Party’s Hapur unit, titled Samajwadi Party Parivar, became the center of controversy late Wednesday night after an obscene video and an objectionable audio clip went viral within minutes. The incident triggered chaos among party workers and led to statewide embarrassment for the organization.

According to reports, the group includes several senior district, city, and block-level SP officials and active workers. The explicit video was allegedly circulated from the phone number of one of the group members, followed by an audio clip featuring a woman’s voice containing indecent remarks. Party members were shocked at first, after which heated exchanges erupted within the group.

Several members demanded that the group administrator take immediate action. Female party members, angered by the content, called it a direct attack on the dignity and image of the Samajwadi Party, claiming it was a “deliberate conspiracy to defame the organization.”

The Hapur district unit of SP has sought a detailed report from the group administrator, while the cyber cell has been asked to identify the source of the message. According to insiders, the mobile number from which the video originated has already been removed from the group, and the incident is being treated as a serious breach of the party’s code of conduct.

Senior SP leaders stated that the matter has been escalated to the state headquarters, and a disciplinary inquiry is underway. The group’s admin, Tejpal Pramukh—reportedly a former district president of the SP—has been asked to explain his role within three days. Party insiders said that strict disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found involved in the circulation of the content.

Following the controversy, the Samajwadi Party Parivar group has been temporarily deactivated. The administrator urged members to avoid spreading rumors or sharing screenshots on social media. Meanwhile, opposition parties have begun taking jibes at the SP over the scandal, as party members continue to demand immediate accountability.
