Veteran Actor Satish Shah Dies at 74 in Mumbai

Renowned Indian actor and comedian Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 in Mumbai on October 25, 2025. He was admitted to Hinduja Hospital after experiencing kidney issues and, despite treatment, succumbed to kidney failure on Saturday afternoon. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news, expressing deep shock and sorrow at the actor’s passing—a significant loss to the Indian entertainment industry.​

Satish Shah was cherished for his comic timing and memorable roles in both television and film. He shone as ‘Indravadan Sarabhai’ in the iconic series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and as Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in the cult classic film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. Over his distinguished career, he appeared in more than 250 feature films, with standout performances in Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, and Hum Saath Saath Hain among numerous others.

Born in Gujarat, Shah began his career in the 1970s and quickly rose to become one of India’s most celebrated comic actors, captivating audiences across generations. He was also a television staple, starring in shows like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Filmi Chakkar, and as a judge on Comedy Circus.
